Itinerary

  • DAY 01 .- Cusco – Capuliyoc – Chiquisca- La Playa- Santa Rosa

    We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4 a.m to start your trekking Choquequirao experience. You will ride our private van with your tour guide and drive about three hours until you get to the trailhead, called Capuliyoc (3,200 m). You will meet your horses and horsemen. Your Choquequirao trekking chef will provide the first breakfast, and your trekking guide will introduce the team. The views of the snow-capped mountains are beautiful. After a group photo, you will start the expedition to Choquekiraw Ruins. It will be a three hour, downhill hike with a few stops, as needed until you arrive at your first lunch spot. The trail can be dusty and slippery, but with good trekking shoes and trekking poles, you won’t have a problem. There will be spectacular views of the Apurimac river, landscapes, and beautiful flora and fauna. After lunch, you will hike another two hours until you reach your campsite, which is at the bottom of a valley, called Santa Rosa.

  • DAY 02.- Santa Rosa – Marampata- Choquequirao- Marampata

    After an early breakfast, you will get ready for the day. You will begin the day by crossing the breach, and then it will be three hours uphill, with zigzags. Along the way, you will pass by some sugar cane farms, more great views of the valley from the opposite hill, possibly some condors above and beautiful flora and fauna. This climb is one of the most challenging parts of the Choquekiraw Trek, so we will have an emergency horse in case you get tired and want a ride. Once you arrive at Marampata, you will be done with the uphill portion. You will have time to enjoy your lunch at 3,350 m high. After lunch, we will continue on the last two-hour section until Choquekiraw. This will be the most impressive section of your entire trek because you will have amazing views from the summit to the canyon of Apurimac. time for exploring Choquekiraw. Once you arrive, you´ll then begin your history lesson and tour of this impressive Inca site. Choquekiraw is considered to be bigger than Machu Picchu, although it´s almost all hidden by the forest. This Inca site is extremely spread out because the Incas had to study which areas of the mountain to build various buildings, terraces, and houses. The most impressive sections of this site are the temples, astronomical observatories, and water channels. After touring around for about three hours, you will head back to camp for dinner tents and accommodation.

  • DAY 03.- Marampata - Santa Rosa -Chiquisca

    Early breakfast, We continue our trek to Santa Rosa this will take aproximately 04 hours hike here our lunch will be waiting for us, after lunch We continue our hike to Playa rosalinas espectacular view of the river site, flora and fauna this will take two hours after a break We Continue our hike ascend one hour more until arrive to Chiquisca our las Campsite..

  • DAY 04.-Chiquisca - Capuliyoc - Cusco.

    After a delicious breakfast, we walk up a moderate hill towards the Capuliyoc pass. Once there we may enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the Apurimac Canyon. At Capuliyoc, our private transport will be waiting for us. On the way home, we will visit the archaeological site of Saywite and have time to explore. Finally our private transport will bring us to cusco.

What Should You Bring?

  • To acclimate the altitude, it is customary to be in Cusco at least two days in advance of the trek (not mandatory) doing some activities drinking water will help you, some of you don’t need acclimatization.
  • If you want to book along the year, you should know that the Inca Trail is closed on February.
  • You will need to show the original passport at every checkpoint of the Inca trail and Machupicchu.
  •  Bring some Cash, in small denominations in local currency almost every shop doesn’t have card system.
  • Waterproof and Windproof jacket, rain poncho.
  • A towel and bathing suit
  • The sun is very strong a sun hat will be helpful.
